Pair of Maxi Earrings Dandara Saúda Afro.
Celebrating Black Consciousness Day in Brazil, Afro Accessories launches an incredible new piece, named Dandara.
It was given this name in honor of none other than Dandara dos Palmares. Warrior of the colonial period of Brazil, she was the wife of Zumbi. Valente, she was one of the black female leaders who fought against the seventeenth-century slave system and assisted Zumbi with the quilombo's strategies and plans for attack and defense. There are no records of where he was born, nor of his African ancestry. Reports and legends lead one to believe that he was born in Brazil and settled in Quilombo dos Palmares as a child. It was one of the real proofs that the woman is not a fragile sex. In addition to domestic services, she planted, worked in the production of cassava flour, hunted and fought capoeira, and wielded weapons and led the women's phalanges of the black palmarino army.
Dandara committed suicide in 1694, not to return to the condition of slave. She still lives in everyone who strives for freedom.
